Beginning wheel

Begins Week of September 17th

This class is designed for the beginner.  You will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel.  Centering, making cylinders, trimming, and final class will focus on glazing. 

This class is about learning and mastering basics not making product.  

Intermediate Wheel 

10 weeks + Free open studio

This class is about expanding your knowledge and technique on advanced structures.  There will be a final class on glazing, including spraying and firing in gas, cone 6, and raku.  At the end of this class you should be able to throw larger pieces

Sculpture class works on different styles of sculpture each session.

Students may work independently of classmates on project or join class on assigned project

 Light & Sculpture

 September 17, 2024   

 This 6 week sculpture class explores the augmentation of sculpture through adding light. In the class we will build sculptures that incorporate light, whether abstract, a lantern, chandelier, lamp or figurative sculpture. Artists also have the option to continue projects from our previous course. Instruction will be given in clay techniques for building sculptures, armature techniques, faux finishing and glazing. Artist examples will be shown in the first class. Please come to class with ideas, sketches or pictures. Artists will be advised after the first class as to any lighting hardware they will need and will be responsible for purchase. No experience is required! Sketchbook, masking tape, pencil and a water bottle are suggested supplies. Tools are provided.
